Volunteering Update.
So today I feel like I am starting to get somewhere...
My main goal-Join the Peace Corp.
JOIN.
So on my road there I will volunteer.
I want went on www.volunteermatch.org - which I have gone to for years but never actually volunteered. I found a volunteering opportunity for 6 months where I would teach someone how to read at the local library which is 3 blocks away from my house. I applied and now am waiting for a notice on the orientation. I would be THRILLED with this. Only an hour & a half a week which is great. School will not be that hectic this semester so it could work. I will have to hear about the scheduling though. That may be the halt of this great volunteering job.
Then there is this organization that added me on facebook called EndPovertee , www.endpovertee.com. Where over 50% of the shirt's profit is used to fight poverty around the globe. From what I read, I believe each shirt goes to the cause and what they are doing now is working with nomad charities and sponsoring young adults in furthering their schooling with the selling of their shirts. So I facebook IM'ed her on a whim and she told me about her paint a shirt party, where at the parties you decorate a "end povertee" shirt. I thought this would be a possible idea to give to my boss at the daycare that I work at. Where we could put a flyer up in the lobby and see if parents would like to purchase a 20 dollar shirt and then order the shirts, then the 3-5 year olds can have a coloring party with the shirts. I would not mind going on my day off and doing it so we will see how that goes. If it is possible to do that. If not the parties would be great at the library if I end up volunteering there.
So there is an update. I really want my laziness not to kill me. It is SO easy to be lazy and not do anything and watch the world pass. Part of me wants to do that, while another part has an itching to get out there and experience the world, but it is also so much safer to do nothing.
I decided that FEELING bad about things that are going on is JUST as BAD as not doing anything or not even caring, the only way to be a good person is to DO SOMETHING.

2009 Resolution
So I started my youtube in September and I have not volunteered ONCE since then. The whole point of the channel was to motivate me to actually do something. Since September my Farmville on Facebook has been BOOMING! I did have a hectic school schedule and I started a real job but I'm sure I could have fit some things in.
I tried volunteering in a city near me and was signed up and everything, then a school group :( project made me miss when I was supposed to go. So now I am really going to try for the new year. The new year will mean nothing to me getting off my butt and doing it but I think if I want 2009 to be a memorable year I will have to do something memorable. We are all searching for our quest to what we will be remembered or how we impacted the world and I think true happiness is happiness in others.
